Our last game of the season. It was great to see
the boys play against the same team they played their first match
against this year and see how far they had progressed.
For the first time in months, we had the whole team
together, and that’s the way they played, just like a team, skilful
unselfish football.
The first quarter our boys tackled hard and didn’t
give the opposition time to think. The Whitehorse boys were bigger and older, maybe a
behemoth or two, but our boys took the game right up to them, they
played with audacity.
Second quarter our boys didn’t back off, they went
in harder, with great tackling, shepherding, strong marks, still with
a strong team focus.
Third quarter, we dropped our guard slightly and
allowed the opposition to score consecutive goals.
The last quarter of the season, I asked the boys to
give it everything they had, hold nothing back and come off proud.
As it was, the boys did precisely that, outscoring
the opposition with more endeavour than I had ever seen from them,
again they were all prodigious.
The final score was irrelevant, the important fact
was they all did their best, they had fun, and played for the team,
the mighty CATS!
Thanks boys, it was a pleasure to have coached you
this year. You are all fine young men with a fantastic future ahead
of you. I look forward to seeing you next year where we can continue
to improve and still have some fun.
Thanks to Theo, Steve, Mary, Allanah, Andrew, all
the parents, the club and especially Trina (worlds best team
manager).
