We started the season with just enough players, and one worry I had was whether I could get them to play as a team, as some of the boys where playing team football for the first time!!
Well we did start slowly, losing our first four games . Then it all clicked, with all the boys, and now one girl, all training hard and wanting to learn, and that enthusiasm started to show on the field.
As the season progressed our team-play improved beyond what I could have hoped for. We ended up winning 8 games for the season, and we just missed out on the finals, which I thought we were good enough to play in.
What made it a more remarkable season for me was that we had two boys invited to the league's Best and Fairest awards, with Matthew Torcasio finishing in the top 10 - a wonderful effort, and Matthew Silipo being named as the Best and Fairest player in our division - a really great acheivement! Well done to both boys, and to the rest of the team that supported them during the year.
