This week we took on second placed
Bulleen-Templestowe at home. I was quite a windy day and we found
ourselves kicking into the breeze in the first quarter. We got off to
a flyer with the first goal of the game into the wind. The opposition
then controlled the remainder of the first quarter to lead by 3
goals.
We used the wind better in the second quarter and got back to within
2 goals by half time. The second half saw a better skilled opposition
take control of the game to run out clear winners.
The boys battled courageously all day and never gave in. There were a
number of outstanding efforts on the day. Ben’s effort at full back
to neutralise their very dangerous full forward, Trent’s marking all over the ground, Tom R
dominance in the Ruck and Chris who went forward after quarter time
and racked up 3 of our 4 goals.
This week marks the
last game of the season and once again the boys put in a fantastic
all round team effort. I am pleased to say that the boys both
individually and as a team have made tremendous improvement from the
start of the year and I look forward to coaching them all again next
year.
I would like to
extend a special thanks to all the parents who helped out during the
year with what was a significant increase in parent jobs compared to
Tackers last year. A special thanks goes to the regulars who were
helped out every week (Mark, Frank and Zoran), our two field umpires
(Sam and Phil) as well as Harry who did a magnificent job as team
Manager.
